What are protozoan infections?
Protozoan infections are common causes of disease in tropical regions throughout the world. Sometimes protozoan infections cause skin and mucous membrane disease.
How are protozoan infections transmitted?
Protozoan infections can be transmitted by arthropods, such as sandflies in leishmaniasis or bugs in trypanosomiasis. Animals may act as vectors.
