Case 4

Cutis rhomboidalis nuchae

Cutis rhomboidalis nuchae is an ageing change in sun damaged skin, characterised by elastosis (yellowish thickening) and deep, geometric, furrows at the back of the neck. It is thought to be due to heavy smoking and chronic exposure to ultraviolet radiation. It is often associated with Favre-Racouchot syndrome (in which there are also solar comedones).

Management should include sun protection and smoking cessation.
