Case 5

Dermatosis papulosa nigra

Dermatosis papulosa nigra describes the presence of multiple, small, 1-5 mm diameter, smooth, firm, black or dark brown papules on face and neck of dark-skinned people. They are seborrhoeic keratoses histologically.

The lesions may be removed by careful electrocautery, taking care to avoid the surrounding skin and so minimise hyperpigmentation and scarring.
